Nigeria-born international hip-hop artist, David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, has prayed for President Muhammadu Buhari for his contribution to a peaceful election in his home state Osun.
Newsonline reports that the ‘Chioma’ crooner stated this following his uncle’s victory at the concluded Osun governorship election held on Saturday.
Davido’s uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke was declared the winner by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday, as the governor-elect of Osun State, having successfully defeated the incumbent, Governor Oyetola Gboyega.
Davido also praised the Nigeria Army for maintaining neutrality in the election even when the ruling government and party wanted to pressure them against the voters.
Reacting to President Buhari’s promise that he remains committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible election in the country, Davido responded to President Buhari, “You will leave a LASTING legacy! God bless you for this act alone sir.”

President Buhari in his congratulatory message to Senator Ademola Adeleke said, “This is what democracy is all about: respect for the will of the people.
“The successful conduct of Osun election is a demonstration of the maturity and the commitment of all stakeholders, towards strengthening the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria.
“I remain fully committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria.”
Davido on the Nigeria Army said, “The Nigerian army has done well so far. Please stay neutral! Help defend and protect our votes. No involvement or interference. Don’t bow to any pressure from anybody! Our president said FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS!”
