NewsOnline Nigeria had earlier reported that a dramatic scene unfolded aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on Sunday when a female passenger, Comfort Emmanson, allegedly assaulted airline crew members and clashed violently with airport security, leading to her being stripped naked during the struggle.

The incident, captured in a viral video, shows Emmanson engaging in a heated altercation before being overpowered by security personnel at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. According to the airline, the trouble began shortly before take-off in Uyo when Emmanson was asked to switch off her mobile phone — an instruction she refused to follow until another passenger intervened.

Upon arrival in Lagos, the confrontation escalated as Emmanson allegedly attacked the purser, stepping on her, tearing off her wig, removing her glasses, and hitting her with footwear. She also slapped another crew member who tried to assist and attempted to seize a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon, a move that could have caused serious damage to the aircraft.

Airport security was called in, but the passenger reportedly continued her violent outburst, assaulting both Ibom Air and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) security staff, and even slapping the airline’s ground supervisor.

In the scuffle to restrain her, her clothes were torn off, leaving her partially naked, a moment that was caught on camera and has since been widely circulated online.

Following her arrest, Emmanson was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force and has now been charged to court. She is currently remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison. Ibom Air confirmed it has placed a permanent travel ban on her.
