Atiku Abubakar has vowed to secure ADC Coalition 2027 Presidential Ticket.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared his strong intent to clinch the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition’s presidential ticket for the 2027 general election, igniting fresh political debate across Nigeria.

Speaking during a brief media interaction, now viral on his handle; Atiku responded confidently when pressed about his 2027 ambition.

“We will let you know. We will give you a formal announcement,” the 77-year-old political heavyweight said with a knowing smile.

When asked what his plan would be if he failed to get the coalition’s ticket, Atiku dismissed the idea altogether:

“Have I ever failed to get the ticket? I’m confident.”

“Let the Youths Contest Too,” Says Atiku

In response to calls for younger leadership in Nigeria, Atiku maintained that democracy is open to all, including the youth.

“Let the youths contest now. It’s democracy,” he stated, signaling he has no intention of backing down due to age-related concerns.

Coalition Faces Internal Competition

Atiku’s determination to secure the ticket comes amid increasing interest from other prominent figures within the coalition. Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential flagbearer Peter Obi, both members of the ADC-led coalition, have also declared intentions to contest in 2027.

With Atiku now positioning himself assertively, insiders suggest the former Vice President is not willing to step aside for any other aspirant, setting the stage for intense internal politicking within the coalition.

A Power Battle Ahead

Atiku’s long-standing political history and refusal to yield may complicate ongoing coalition unity efforts. Analysts say his entrance into the race solidifies his influence but could trigger fractures among younger aspirants and reform-minded stakeholders within the alliance.

As 2027 draws closer, the struggle for the ADC coalition ticket is shaping up to be a high-stakes contest between old political titans and a rising generation seeking to reshape Nigeria’s leadership landscape.
