Google has partnered with Verve to ease Digital Payments on the play store for Nigerians.

Newsonline Nigeria understands that in a move that is set to transform the digital payment landscape in Nigeria, Google has announced a ground-breaking partnership with Verve, the largest domestic card scheme in Africa.

This collaboration aims to enable Nigerians to make seamless and hassle-free transactions on the Google Play Store using the local currency, the naira.

The introduction of local payments with Verve cards on the Play Store is a significant milestone that will revolutionize the app economy in Nigeria.

With banks grappling with forex demands for international payments, the integration comes as a welcome relief for Nigerians seeking to purchase apps and digital content from the Google Store.

As of now, any Nigerian with an Android device and a Verve card can easily and securely make purchases on the Google Play Store, enhancing the country’s digital ecosystem.

This move is poised to drive financial inclusion by extending the reach of digital services to a broader segment of the Nigerian population.

The process is simple and straightforward. Google will now process Verve transactions within Nigeria, ensuring that the transactions are conducted in Nigerian naira and treated as local transactions by the country’s banking institutions.

This streamlines the payment process for millions of users, eliminating the complexities associated with international payments and currency conversions.

Anthea Crawford, Head of Retail and Payment Partnerships at Google Play, expressed her excitement about collaborating with Verve, emphasizing the goal of expanding Google Play’s access to more Nigerians.

With local payments now accessible through Verve cards, more Nigerians can participate in the app economy and access the digital content and services they need.

Vincent Ogbunude, Managing Director of Verve International, highlighted the significance of this integration in achieving Verve’s vision of promoting financial inclusion.

He emphasized that bringing digital content and services closer to Verve cardholders bridges the digital divide, making it easier for Nigerians to engage with digital platforms and services.

The partnership between Google and Verve will not only enhance convenience and accessibility but also contribute significantly to a more inclusive digital environment for Nigerians.

With the option to add Verve Cards to their Google Play accounts and pay in naira, users can now enjoy a seamless digital payment experience without any stress.
