No Merger Can Oust Me, My Eight Years Is Sure- Makinde Tells APC

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has said a planned merger between the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties to oust him cannot work.

Newsonline reports that the Oyo state governor who is contesting for a second tenure in office under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said his eight years are sure.

Governor Makinde stated this on Friday while addressing party faithful and Christain community during a mega praise and end-of-the-year Thanksgiving event themed: “Halleluyah,” held at the Government House Arcade, Agodi Ibadan.

Makinde said as an engineer, he has laid a solid foundation in his first four years as governor. He said the remaining four years which he has already won through the votes of Oyo citizens and residents, will be for consolidation.

He added that in line with the constitution and the belief Oyo people have in him, he will complete his eight years.

Makinde advised the main opposition APC and other parties planning to merge to oust him to engage in another prayer point than merging to remove him.

He said: “ Those praying for the oppositions should engage in another prayer points for them, because they have already missed their ways.

“We have already laid the foundation to turn things around in Oyo State. 2023 is about consolidating on the foundation we have laid.

“In a couple of days, we will release our road map for sustainable development in Oyo State from 2023 to 2027 and beyond.

“I don’t want you to be afraid, because it is God’s finished project and we have handed everything to God.”
