Court has sacked Uzodinma as APC Imo West Senatorial Candidate and ordered INEC to recognise Okorocha.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order on Thursday after ruling that Uzodinma did not win the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18, 2026, and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The judge held that evidence presented before the court established that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast at the primary and should be recognised as the winner.
Justice Egwuatu consequently ordered the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election in the 2027 general elections.

The court also directed INEC to recognise Okorocha as the party’s lawful candidate and publish his name for the contest.
The judge reportedly found that several documents used in nominating Uzodinma were fabricated, in breach of provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act.
The ruling followed a legal challenge by Okorocha over Uzodinma’s recognition as the APC candidate for the senatorial seat.
Uzodinma is currently serving as governor of Imo State, with his tenure scheduled to end on January 14, 2028.
The court’s decision marks a significant development in the APC’s Imo West senatorial candidacy dispute ahead of the 2027 general elections.
