DSS has secured death sentence for kidnap convict over lilling of three in Sokoto state.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) has secured a death sentence against Ibrahim Usman, also known as Dan Iyali, over his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and killing of three persons in Sokoto State in September 2023.
Usman was convicted by the High Court of Justice of Sokoto State, sitting in the Sokoto Judicial Division, after facing a four-count charge alongside other suspects who remain at large.

The charges included criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, culpable homicide punishable with death, and voluntarily causing grievous hurt without provocation.
The conviction followed proceedings over Usman’s alleged role in the September 2023 incident involving the victims.
The DSS secured the conviction after presenting its case before the state High Court.
The court’s decision means Usman faces the death penalty for the offence of culpable homicide punishable with death, subject to applicable legal procedures and any available appeal process.
The case adds to ongoing efforts by security and law enforcement agencies to prosecute suspects accused of kidnapping and other violent crimes in Sokoto State.
