Portable has apologised for walking out of Charles Okocha Boxing Rematch and explained why he quit the fight.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has apologised to organisers, fans and supporters for walking out of his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha, while also explaining the circumstances that led to his decision.
The highly anticipated bout, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, ended in controversy after Portable refused to continue following the opening round, prompting officials to declare Charles Okocha the winner.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his management, Zeh Nation/Dr Zeh, the singer expressed regret over the incident and apologised to everyone affected by the outcome.
“We sincerely apologise to the organisers, Balmoral Group, the entire event team, our fans, friends, family, and everyone who came out to support Portable at tonight’s celebrity boxing event,” the statement read.
The management acknowledged that Portable’s decision disappointed many fans but appealed for understanding, urging Nigerians to respect his perspective.
“We understand the disappointment caused by the outcome of the fight and by Portable’s decision to step away after the first round. While emotions can run high in moments like these, we respectfully ask everyone to respect his decision and perspective,” the statement added.
A few hours after the apology, Portable took to his Instagram page to explain why he abandoned the contest.
In a video posted on Saturday, the singer accused Charles Okocha of abandoning boxing techniques in favour of wrestling during the fight. He also alleged that the actor bit him during the exchange.
Displaying what he claimed were injuries on his back and body, Portable insisted he was attacked unfairly and maintained that he had landed more punches before deciding to quit.
“They said he eats Molly. He didn’t see Molly anymore. So he ate my back. Man, he bit me. I landed a heavy hit on him,” Portable said in the video.
The controversial artiste further alleged that several people attacked him during the bout, insisting the contest became unfair.
The celebrity boxing rematch, staged at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, had generated widespread anticipation following Portable’s victory over Okocha in their first meeting in 2023.
However, Friday’s showdown ended in dramatic fashion after Portable walked away from the ring during the opening round. Although he later returned, officials ruled him out of the contest and awarded victory to Charles Okocha.
Videos from the event have continued to trend across social media, with fans divided over Portable’s explanation and the controversial ending to the much-publicised rematch.
