Speaking at the event, Governor Oborevwori said the decision by Zenith Bank to expand its footprint in Delta State demonstrates confidence in the state’s economic prospects and ongoing development efforts.
According to the governor, the investment reflects the positive impact of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth, and creating an enabling environment for businesses.
“This is a clear vote of confidence in the economic potential of our state. It shows that the investments we have made in infrastructure, economic development, and ease of doing business are producing tangible results,” he said.
“When a leading financial institution such as Zenith Bank expands its presence in Delta State, it sends a powerful message that Delta State is open for business and ready for greater investment.”
Oborevwori highlighted the significance of the branch to residents of Okpe Local Government Area, noting that it is currently the only commercial bank operating within the local government.
“This branch is the only bank in the whole of Okpe Local Government as it is today. The significance of this bank to our people cannot be overemphasised because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” he added.
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, expressed appreciation to the governor for his support and partnership in facilitating the project.
She noted that the governor’s donation of the land on which the branch was built demonstrated his administration’s commitment to encouraging private sector investment and economic development.
Umeoji said the establishment of the Osubi branch reflects Zenith Bank’s confidence in Delta State and its commitment to supporting underserved communities through accessible financial services.
“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for his unwavering support and partnership, and for finding time to personally commission the branch today,” she said.
She added that the branch represents Zenith Bank’s 19th outlet in Delta State and serves as another milestone in the bank’s longstanding relationship with the state.
The Zenith Bank chief reiterated the institution’s commitment to empowering individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), women entrepreneurs, and businesses through innovative banking solutions, access to finance, and capacity-building initiatives.
According to her, the new branch is expected to stimulate economic activities in Osubi and neighbouring communities while contributing to the broader economic development of Delta State and Nigeria.
The opening of the branch aligns with Zenith Bank’s strategy of expanding access to financial services and strengthening financial inclusion across underserved communities in the country.
