Christains Genocide

President Trump has threatened the invasion of Nigeria with US Army over alleged christains genocide.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that U.S. President Donald J. Trump has escalated tensions with Nigeria, warning that the United States may “go into Nigeria guns-a-blazing” if the government fails to stop the alleged killing of Christians across the country.

In a fiery post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump declared that the U.S. would immediately cut off all aid and assistance to Nigeria, accusing the West African nation of allowing what he described as a “mass slaughter” of Christians by radical Islamist groups.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, guns-a-blazing, to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump wrote.

“If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians! WARNING: The Nigerian Government better move fast!”

The post follows Trump’s earlier decision to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” over alleged widespread persecution of Christians — a move that has triggered a diplomatic storm between Abuja and Washington.

Tinubu Responds: ‘Nigeria Rejects False Religious Label’

Reacting swiftly, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rejected Trump’s designation and threats, insisting that Nigeria remains a secular nation committed to protecting citizens of all faiths.

In a statement released on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Tinubu described Trump’s remarks as “misguided” and “inconsistent with Nigeria’s reality,” stressing that his administration has maintained active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders.

“The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and belief for all Nigerians,” Tinubu said.

“Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it.”

Tinubu added that Nigeria remains open to working with the U.S. government and the international community “to deepen understanding and cooperation on protection of communities of all faiths.”

Tensions Rising Between Washington and Abuja

Trump’s hardline remarks coming just a day after the CPC designation have raised fears of a new diplomatic rift between Nigeria and the United States.

Analysts warn that a halt in U.S. aid could disrupt counter-terrorism operations, humanitarian support, and economic cooperation between both nations.

The Nigerian government, meanwhile, has consistently denied claims of systemic persecution, blaming much of the violence on banditry and extremist insurgency rather than religious motives.

As the situation unfolds, both leaders’ statements mark one of the most tense moments in U.S.–Nigeria relations in recent years; with Trump’s threats sparking outrage across Africa’s most populous country and renewed debate over Washington’s role in global religious freedom advocacy.
