President Tinubu met Former Rivers Sole Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas amid financial probe.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday evening, held a closed-door meeting with the outgone Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Ibas, who arrived at the Villa around 5:50 p.m. in brown native attire, was accompanied by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede.

During the meeting, Edun briefly stepped out and returned with a file, sparking speculations about the agenda of the talks.

The development comes just days after Ibas completed his six-month tenure as sole administrator on September 17, following President Tinubu’s directive reinstating suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Recall that the Amaewhule-led House of Assembly has resolved to probe the state’s finances during Ibas’s six-month emergency administration. Lawmakers declared that they would examine how funds from the consolidated revenue account were spent, including contract awards and other expenditures.

Rivers State reportedly received over N254.37 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) between March and August 2025 under Ibas’s watch.

The retired Naval chief has, however, dismissed the planned probe as a “fool’s errand.”
