Newsonline reports that Peter Obi visited the top traditional leader on Saturday as part of his electioneering campaign strategy.

This online news platform gathered that Obi has lamented the degradation of the status of the Ibadan city.

He complained that the “University of Ibadan known for quality education has become shadow of its old self.”

The former Anambra State Governor, however, promised to restore the educational status of the institutions in Ibadan if elected president in 2023.

In a post via his verified Twitter page on Sunday, Obi expressed his gratitude for the reception by the monarch. He praised Olubadan for his audience and the hospitality showed to him at the palace of the traditional leader.

The presidential hopeful said he has noted down all the wise counsel and requests made by Olubadan during the courtesy visit.

“Yesterday I was in Ibadan to pay a courtesy call on the HRH Oba Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadanland at his Alarere, Ibadan residence. I am grateful for the gracious audience and hospitality. I took note of his wise counsel and requests,” Obi noted on his Twitter handle.

Reacting to Obi’s campaign promises and plans for the nation, Olubadan through the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, charged the Labour Party presidential candidate to ensure the creation of Ibadan State, if he wins the 2023 election.

The respected traditional leader commended Obi’s delivery and plans on the various challenges bedevilling Nigeria.

He said that should Obi becomes president in 2023 and is able to tackle these challenges, Nigeria will become a country its citizens would be proud of.

He further urged obi to remain committed to his initiatives to restore the nation back to the people.
