The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has been slammed by critics for what they described as betrayal of the party under which he is contesting for the country’s presidency in 2023 election.
Newsonline reports that Peter Obi’s appeal to governor Wike on Thursday for support of his candidacy while he supports the governor’s state candidates was a betrayal.
Recall that at the commission of Ikoku Flyover in Rivers State on Thursday by Peter Obi and his vice-presidential candidate Datti Ahmad, Wike assured the former governor of Anambra State that he would support all his ambition with all logistics to ensure his victory in the 2023 election.
However, Wike told Obi that none of the candidates of the Labour Party would win any post at the state level in the state because all posts at the state level will be won by his party candidates, Peoples Democratic Party.

Reacting to Wike, Peter Obi said, “Your Excellency, I’ve heard you, and will negotiate with members of my party, but please, leave the federal for us, if we leave state for you, as you have suggested.”
A former presidential aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, slammed the former governor of Anambra state for what he described as Obi being interested only in his personal benefit.
Reno said, “I hope the Labour Party heard what Peter Obi said in Port Harcourt about the PDP and its gubernatorial candidate. Obi asked Rivers residents to vote PDP for Governor and vote him for President. You see, Obi does not care about Labour. He cares only about himself!”
He further added, “Imagine you are the Labour gubernatorial candidate. How would you feel, after spending money and resources to campaign for yourself and Obi, to hear the same Obi bargain away your position for his personal benefit? This is a man who said his structure is the people!”
