A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Bode George, has called on the National Chairman of the party, Senator Ayu Iyorcha to honour his promise and resign from the office he occupies.
Newsonline reports that the former BOT chairman of the PDP also called on Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike to sheath their swords for the benefit of the party.
Chief Bode George on Wednesday called on Atiku to quickly put all measures in place to mend faces with aggrieved party members before the campaign for the 2023 election kicks off.
Chief Bode stated that the National Chairman should not try to complicate issues by reneging on the promise he made in the build-up to the PDP presidential primary election.
According to the elder statesman, Ayu promised to resign from his position as National Chairman if a Northerner emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.
At a press conference held at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, Chief Bode George said, “Ayu once said if the presidential candidate should emerge from the North, he’ll resign. I want to take on him for his word. Why are you now trying to reverse the role? Your word must be your bond.”

Chief George passionately appealed to the former vice president Atiku Abubakar to work out peace with aggrieved party members if he wants to achieve his presidential ambition.
He also called on the governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike to sheath his sword for the interest of the party.
“However, I appeal to all sides to sheathe their swords.
“It’s absolutely necessary and makes a lot of sense for the candidate who wants to wear the big crown, Atiku Abubakar, to start the networking of people and multiple congregations of efforts that’ll make the party succeed.
“I urge Ezenwo Wike to maintain an abiding interest and fidelity to the PDP, which is the best in terms of national outlook, format and reputation,” Chief George said.
