Zenith Bank has expanded global footprint with new Manchester branch in the United Kingdom.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Zenith Bank Plc has announced the opening of a new branch in Manchester, United Kingdom, marking another major step in the bank’s international expansion strategy and its efforts to strengthen financial links between Africa and global markets.

The official launch ceremony, scheduled for March 17, 2026, is expected to attract government officials from Nigeria and the United Kingdom, financial regulators, investors, customers, and business leaders from both countries. The event underscores growing economic cooperation and investment opportunities between the two markets.

According to the bank, the new Manchester branch will complement its existing operations in the United Kingdom and serve as a strategic hub for businesses involved in international trade and investment. The branch will provide a range of services including corporate banking, trade finance, treasury services, and other financial solutions to clients operating across the UK, Europe, and Africa.

Speaking ahead of the launch, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, said the expansion reflects the bank’s ambition to strengthen its global presence.

“The opening of our Manchester branch represents another important step in Zenith Bank’s growth as a leading African financial institution connecting businesses and markets across continents,” she said.

Umeoji added that Manchester, one of the United Kingdom’s most dynamic commercial centres, offers significant opportunities for businesses seeking to expand into African markets.

Founded in 1990 by its Founder and Chairman, Jim Ovia, Zenith Bank has grown into one of Africa’s leading financial institutions with a strong capital base and a consistent record of profitability. The bank has built its reputation on innovation, technology-driven banking solutions, and disciplined risk management.

Headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, Zenith Bank operates more than 500 branches and business offices across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Beyond Nigeria, the bank has established subsidiaries in several African countries including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Côte d’Ivoire, while maintaining a presence in key international financial centres such as the United Kingdom, France, United Arab Emirates, and China.

Manchester, widely regarded as one of the UK’s most vibrant economic centres, hosts a diverse range of industries including manufacturing, engineering, logistics, technology, and consumer goods. Its strong commercial ecosystem aligns with Zenith Bank’s expertise in corporate banking, structured finance, and trade finance.

The new branch will work closely with the bank’s existing operations in London and its broader international network to support businesses seeking to expand across markets and unlock new opportunities in both the United Kingdom and Africa.

With the Manchester expansion, Zenith Bank says it is advancing its vision of becoming a truly global African banking institution, facilitating trade, investment, and stronger economic ties between Africa and the rest of the world.
