The heartbreaking news was confirmed through a tribute shared by her colleague, actress Bakare Zainab, who wrote on Instagram, “Goodnight. Omotola rest well.”

Omotola, who gained attention for her role in Lisabi alongside actor Lateef Adedimeji, was described by colleagues as a rising star in the Yoruba movie industry.

Portable’s Babymama Ashabi Recounts Final Moments

 

Joining others in mourning, Ashabi, babymama to controversial singer Portable, shared an emotional message about her last encounter with Omotola. She recalled meeting the actress earlier this year while shooting the movie Deputy, where they both promised to collaborate again.

“Omoh dis one shock me oooo Aunty Tola. You’re one of the best actors I’m rooting for. Saw you earlier this year when I was shooting Deputy and we promised to feature each other in our next project, but now you laboured and didn’t wait to reap what you sowed,” she wrote.

Ashabi also revealed how Omotola often chatted with her late at night, offering encouragement and advice.

“Most of your wishes we talked about didn’t even come true. GOD, we can’t question you oooo. Death is deep,” she added.

Meanwhile, another wave of grief hit the entertainment industry following the death of Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as Fish Magnet. The popular fish entrepreneur was reportedly abducted and attacked last Saturday at his residence in Ezinifite village, located in the Okpuno area of Awka South LGA, Anambra State.

Eyewitnesses claim the assailants, who arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, shot him in the leg and abducted him using his own Toyota Corolla. Details surrounding the motive remain unclear.

Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko expressed shock over the killing, calling for improved security across Nigeria. Taking to Instagram, she wrote of her heartbreak and the need for urgent national attention to rising violence.
