2023 Elections

Wike, Makinde, Ortom, Ugwuanyi, Ikpeazu Can’t Stop Atiku’s Victory- PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council for Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa ticket for the 2023 election has said Wike and his co-rebels cannot stop the victory of its candidate.

Newsonline reports that the Director of Strategic Communication, National Election Management Committee of the PDP presidential campaign, Dele Momodu, said Atiku has paid his dues and is most qualified among other candidates and with the required expertise to govern the country.

Dele Momodu also said it is better for the integrity group governors to declare their presidential candidate as said by the leader Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. He, however, said Atiku’s victory is sure without, Wike, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Samuel Ortom of Benue State.

Speaking in an interview with a national daily, Dele Momodu said, “There is no candidate today that can stop Atiku Abubakar from becoming President of Nigeria. None of the candidates has his pedigree, exposure, competence, temperament, and network. He has paid his dues, having staked his life in the growth and development of democracy in Nigeria in the past 29 years. His crowning glory will come in 2023.”

The publisher of Ovation magazine added, “I heard one of the G5 governors saying yesterday that he will announce his preferred presidential candidate in January. We hope they will announce Atiku but with or without the support of these governors, Atiku is winning the election. He will become the President of Nigeria. This is not rhetoric.”

“Everyone contesting can list thousands of reasons they should be voted for but we need a man who is an expert at job creation, a unifier, a Nigerian that Nigerians can trust. Wherever he is called to share his vision, he goes there no matter how inconvenient it is. Unlike those who run away from town halls, Atiku is always available to speak about the issues. While others attack him, his focus is on the issues. We do hope these candidates will man up to debate him on issues of security, job creation, economy, sports, infrastructure, and what have you,” Momodu added.

The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who has been contesting for the position of presidency since 1992 under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had told Financial Times that he would continue to aspire to be the president of the largest country in Africa until he achieves what he described as life long ambition.

The Waziri of Adamawa was vice president of Nigeria from 1999-2007 in the regime of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo.

The former vice president is contesting for the 2023 presidency along with Peter Obi of Labour Party, a former governor of Anambra State; Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a former governor of Lagos state; and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), a former governor of Kano State.
