NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has explained the motivation behind his administration’s aggressive infrastructural development drive across Abuja, saying he is executing President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the capital city.
Speaking on Monday during the flag-off of the Mohammed Isa Road Extension project in Asokoro District, Wike described himself as “Tinubu’s agent,” emphasizing that every project under his watch reflects the president’s directives for a modern, globally competitive city.
“We must not forget that Mr. President has people who carry out his instructions,” Wike said. “Through us, we’re implementing his vision that the FCT must compete favorably with other cities of the world. And that is exactly what we’re doing.”
The minister outlined several ongoing initiatives, including road and drainage construction, landscaping, and installation of streetlights, noting that these projects are transforming the city’s outlook while generating jobs for residents.
“Every day, companies are working—today here, tomorrow in another district—and our youths are being engaged. That’s job creation, that’s employment,” Wike stated.
He further urged residents to appreciate the government’s commitment to urban renewal, stressing that visible progress in Abuja’s development stems from strong leadership and dedication to service.
“It’s not magic,” Wike added. “It’s about commitment. The leadership is determined to deliver, and that’s what Mr. President is doing today.”
