We Control Heartland Of South-West, We ‘ill Win 2023 Election- Ayu, PDP Nat Chair

And the Nigerian people as long as we continue to do the right things they will believe us and they will definitely give us their mandate.

The National Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has boasted that the PDP has better chance of winning the 2023 general election, by their control of the state of Oyo and Osun states, which he described as the heartland states of South-West.

Newsonline reports that Senator Ayu said the elections in Osun, Ekiti and Abuja have proven that Nigerians are tired of the All Progressive Congress, APC, administration and are waiting for the PDP to take over.

The National Chairman of PDP called on members to tell Nigerians the truth as they have seen the reality of APC disastrous government.

Senator Iyorchia Ayu stated this on Thursday, at the party’s national headquarter in Abuja at the meeting of the National Working Committee, with former National Publicity Secretaries, State and Zonal Publicity Secretaries and other key stakeholders.

Ayu told the party officials that, “the Nigerian people as long as we continue to do the right things they will believe us and they will definitely give us their mandate.”

Recall that internal skirmishes within that opposition PDP had been reported by Newsonline, following the May presidential primary election.

The presidential candidate, Atiku and the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike have not come to terms with the last primary election.

Newsonline had reported that most PDP stakeholders including Peter Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State were against the decision of the party to give their presidential ticket to a Northerner against the party’s gentleman agreement that power should return to the South in 2023.

While the issue of power rotation and Atiku presidency was almost settled, the presidential candidate, picked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the vice-presidential candidate, against the wish of a majority of the party stakeholders and a committee Atiku himself constituted to recommend a vice-presidential candidate.

Ayu, in the meeting, called to look at ways to address the internal rivalry within the party, reminded stakeholders that they have to “ try to convince Nigeria people of the disgusting realities that they find themselves in, thanks to the APC and all the lies they told against the PDP.”

Ayu said the message he believed is getting through to Nigerians following the performance of the party at the Osun, Ekiti and Abuja elections.

“And I think that message is getting through by the series of elections we’ve gone through. The elections in Abuja in the six local governments people voted massively for the PDP.

“The elections in Ekiti and Osun, again, it was clear that the preferred party that the Nigerian people want to take over power next year is still the PDP. This is not based on lies, it is based on realities.

“It is based on the reality of these two states elections Ekiti and Osun, never mind we had hiccups in Ekiti for reasons which many Nigerian and party members know, we still keyed in on a very important state of Osun.

“This means we now control the heartland of the Southwest. We control both Osun and Oyo, and if you control the heartland of the Southwest, you are likely to win in the rest of the Southwest in Ondo, in Ogun and of course the big prize in Lagos.”

Ayu called on the party officials to tell Nigerians truth about the failure of the APC administration and let them know what they are going to do really to solve the problems APC created.

“We need to convey to Nigerians the failure of the APC and to go ahead and tell them what we will do for them as realistically as possible,” he advised.

“And our victory in Osun shows clearly that we are on the way to victory. We are definitely going to win the next election, we’ll increase the number of governors, we’ll control the National Assembly, House of Representatives, most state houses of assembly and of course the big price friends, we shall return to the Villa,” Ayu added.
