University on the Niger, UNINIGER has taken off in Umunya, Anambra State.
Newsonline Nigeria reports that the University on the Niger (UNINIGER), Umunya, has officially taken off following the announcement of its POST-UTME screening schedule for prospective students.
This Nigeria news platform understands that the registrar of the university Lady Odisa Okeke in a press release stated that the POST-UTME screening which commenced on November 1, 2023, will end on December 31, 2023.

Lady Okeke explained that the university got the approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run 20 degree programmes in various faculties with effect from the 2023/2024 academic session.
According to her, the approved faculties are: Medicine and Dentistry, Allied Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Law,Arts/Management/Social Sciences and Faculty of Science and Computing.
The degree programmes of the faculties include: Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Dental Therapy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Public Health and Health Information Sciences.
Others are: Pharmacy, Law, Accounting, Psychology, Economics and Development Studies and Christian Theology.
Others are: Forensic Science, Microbiology, Computer Science and Cyber Security.
The press statement emphasized that to qualify for admission into any of the programmes, candidates must possess at least five Ordinary Level Credit Passes in relevant subjects, including the English Language and Mathematics.
Prospective candidates are also expected to have sat and obtained a minimum score of 150 in the 2023 JAMB/UTME examination.
The release emphasized that “Such candidates must also effect ‘Change of Institution/Course’ to the University on the Niger on the JAMB portal on or before December 31, 2023.
“During registration, candidates are advised to use e-mails and GSM numbers that are easily accessible to them”, adding that the request was for fast and easy communication.
It warned that at any point of the screening and the admission process, should any false information be discovered on account of any candidate, such candidate’s application would be automatically disqualified.

The university which recently obtained a take-off certificate from the Federal Government runs two campuses in Onitsha and at the Iyi-Enu Teaching Hospital with its permanent site at Umunya.
While the Iyi-Enu Teaching Hospital Campus of the university houses the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, the All Saints’ Cathedral Campus, Onitsha, has the Faculty of Arts/Management/Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Computing.
