1. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday endorsed the Labour Party standard bearer, Peter Obi, saying he had an edge over other presidential candidates in terms of knowledge, discipline, vitality and character. The elder statesman, therefore, called on Nigerians to vote for the LP standard bearer in the February 25 presidential polls.

2. At least five persons have been confirmed killed and four others in critical condition after a yet-to-be-identified motorist rammed into dancers during a New Year party organised by some friends at Akinmori community, in the Afijio Local Government area of Oyo State.

3. Tragedy struck in the Ibara area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, when a couple, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye, were killed in a fire incident. Their son was reportedly taken away by suspected hoodlums, who set the house on fire.

4. Hoodlums on Sunday attacked the convoy of Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal. It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday when Tambuwal and other government officials were returning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) statewide electioneering campaign in Silame and Wamakko Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.

5. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed the endorsement of Peter Obi, his Labour Party rival, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In a statement, which Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, issued on his behalf, Tinubu described the endorsement as worthless.

6. Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev Ignatius Ayau Kaigama has urged Nigerians to be guided by their heads and hearts and not their stomachs and pockets. This was contained in his New Year 2023 message issued yesterday.

7. The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said many trouble makers will lose the ability to make troubles and quite a “few balloons” will be deflated this year, urging Nigerians to pray fervently throughout the year.

8. Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike of scuttling moves by the party to zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the South East. Its spokesperson, Charles Aniagwu said Wike influenced the zoning committee headed by his friend and Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom to declare the contest open to all.

9. Constitutional lawyer, Peter Abang has petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), seeking commencement of criminal inquiry, arrest and prosecution of the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, over his alleged role in the foiled plot to frame CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, for terrorism financing.

10. President Muhammadu Buhari has said an armoured vehicle gift given to him by former Kano State governor and now presidential candidate of Nigerian National Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, helped him survive a bomb attack in Kaduna in 2014. He stated this in a documentary, titled ‘Essential Muhammadu Buhari, which aired yesterday.
