1. Indications have emerged that the Federal Government is making preparations to evacuate about 5,500 stranded Nigerians out of Sudan through the Egyptian town of Luxor. It was gathered that the Federal Government was seeking Egypt’s support so that the stranded Nigerians could be moved to Luxor.

2. Another three-storey building, on Sunday, collapsed in the Apapa Government Reserved Area of Lagos State. The building under construction, located on Ladipo Oluwole Street, Apapa, caved in barely two weeks after a seven-storey building collapsed in Banana Island in the state.

3. Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has approved the reinstatement of the suspended Emir of Yandoto, Alhaji Aliyu Maraca. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, on Sunday in Gusau. Aliyu was suspended for turbaning a bandit kingpin.

4. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has accused desperate politicians of using politics to sow seeds of discord among Nigerians. Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, was in Onitsha to celebrate with the Muslim community as they mark the Sallah holiday on Sunday. He stated that Nigerians are one.

5. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State, has paraded seven persons over alleged theft, fake alert and drug-related offences. The suspects are Fakuade Ayodeji, 38, Micheal Samuel, 39, Bamidele Atowoju, 25, Pelumi Ojo, 23, Temitope Oke, 32, and Makinde Oluwaropo, 26. They were arrested at separate locations in Ado Ekiti and Ondo State.

6. Former governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has called on the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to withdraw his petition against the president-elect, Bola Tinubu. He called on Obi and his supporters to align with others in welcoming Tinubu’s victory, even as he said the LP candidate lacked the spread nor national appeal to have won the presidential election.

7. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) inaugurated last year to prosecute the party’s 2023 presidential election. The dissolution was contained in a statement jointly signed by its Director General, Governor Simon Lalong and the Secretary, James Faleke.

8. Power generation to the national grid dipped below the 4,000 megawatts mark over the weekend, leaving customers across the country with limited electricity supply. Checks on data provided by the National System Operator, NSO, an independent arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, showed that only 18 of the 25 power plants in the country supplied power to the grid.

9. Seven persons, including two children, were on Sunday burnt to death when a bus crashed and went up in flames along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. No fewer than 14 other passengers were said to have been injured in the crash which occurred at the OPIC axis of the highway.

10. Supremacy clashes involving members of the Aiye and the Eiye confraternities at Ijanikin, in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, have led to the death of two persons, including an undergraduate of the Lagos State University, Kamoru Lasisi, and a tiler, Lateef Atanda. It was gathered that members of the cult groups had been engaging one another in a series of clashes for over two months.
