President Tinubu Government has mocked opposition coalition and predicted collapse before 2027.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Presidency has dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition’s chances of success, predicting that it will soon disintegrate due to internal contradictions and personal ambitions.

This was stated by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, in reaction to the unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the opposition’s platform to challenge Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

According to Onanuga, the coalition is nothing more than a gathering of disgruntled politicians—many of them former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)—who are united not by a shared ideology, but by their opposition to President Tinubu.

He argued that the alliance lacks a coherent vision for the country and is driven by self-interest rather than a genuine commitment to national development.

“A political party with no clear agenda or ideology—whose members are united only by their hatred for President Tinubu—cannot be good for our country. It will only set us back by decades,” Onanuga said.

The presidential aide also questioned the relevance of some coalition members, noting that many had long ceased to be active in the APC.

“Rotimi Amaechi effectively left the APC in 2022 after losing the presidential primary. Abubakar Malami has been estranged from the party since Tinubu took over, especially after his failed governorship bid in Kebbi. Hadi Sirika is currently facing trial for contract fraud, while Rauf Aregbesola was expelled over anti-party activities during the Osun election,” he stated.

Onanuga further took aim at other coalition leaders, including Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and Kashim Imam, describing them as “political relics” attempting a comeback after losing influence in the APC.

“These are politicians desperate for relevance—desperados hungry for power at all costs, not for the benefit of Nigerians but to escape political obscurity,” he added.

He urged Nigerians to be vigilant and not fall for what he described as a deceptive narrative from the opposition.

“My advice to Nigerians: keep your eyes wide open. These individuals have no cohesive plan for Nigeria. Their only goal is to stop Tinubu, not to build a better future for the country. The coalition will soon fall apart under the weight of their conflicting personal ambitions.”

Onanuga concluded by insisting that the ruling APC remains strong and undeterred, adding that the defection of a few discontented former members poses no threat to the party’s stability or chances in 2027.
