Wike has clashed with Military Officer over alleged land grabbing in Abuja.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that there was a dramatic confrontation on Tuesday between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and an unidentified military officer over an alleged land-grabbing incident at Gaduwa District, Abuja.

In a viral video obtained by reporters, Wike was seen accusing the officer of illegally occupying a parcel of land, which he claimed was wrongfully acquired under the pretext of military influence.

Visibly furious, the minister challenged the officer’s authority to lay claim to the property simply because it was connected to a former Chief of Naval Staff.

“Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” Wike fumed.

The officer, dressed in military fatigues, interrupted the minister, defending himself and insisting that the acquisition was legitimate.

“I am an officer with integrity. Everything was acquired legally,” he said.

Angered by the interruption, Wike ordered him to remain silent.

“I will not shut up,” the officer shot back, prompting Wike to respond sharply: “You are a very big fool. As at the time I graduated, you were still in primary school.”

The exchange grew even more heated as Wike warned the officer against further encroachment.

“You will see if you will not leave here. Go and develop there and let me see,” the minister said.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigerian military nor the FCT Administration had issued an official statement regarding the altercation.

Land ownership disputes and illegal allocations have long plagued the nation’s capital. Since assuming office in August 2023, Wike has launched an aggressive campaign to reclaim encroached lands, demolish unauthorised structures, and restore the Abuja Master Plan.

The latest confrontation underscores growing tensions between government officials and individuals, both civilian and military accused of exploiting their positions to acquire public land illegally.
