Newsonline reports that Keyamo described the former governor of Borno State as a quintessential banker and economist who is young and experienced.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, stated this while commenting on the announcement of Kasim Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, by Bola Tinubu.
Keyamo’s praise is coming amidst criticisms by some political watchers who described the picking of a Muslim running mate by Tinubu and the ruling APC as unfair.
Most political pundits have said Tinubu and APC fielding Muslim-Muslim tickets is against the secular state which is recognized by the country’s constitution. Some have also argued that Tinubu and APC have no regard for the Christians in the country.
But Festus Keyamo in his reaction to the announcement described Shettima as, “Quintessential banker and economist, suave gentleman and politician, intellectually fertile, economically sound, intergenerationally mobile (he’s young, yet experienced), fiercely loyal, phenomenally complimentary to Bola Tinubu; HE Sen. Kashim Shettima is the perfect choice as VP.”
The former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu on Sunday in Daura, President Buhari’s home announced Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
Bola Tinubu and the All Progressive Congress had before June 17 submitted the name of Ibrahim Masari as a placeholder vice-presidential candidate to beat INEC deadline.
Tinubu while announcing his choice of Shettima said as a democrat, his picking of his running mate was after due consultation with party members and in line with the provisions of the country’s constitutional provisions.
