Shakara Festival is set to redefine ‘Detty December’ with groundbreaking Four-Day Music and Culture Experience in Lagos.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Lagos is gearing up to host the debut edition of Shakara Festival, a first-of-its-kind four-day outdoor celebration of African music, culture, and lifestyle, scheduled to take place from Thursday, December 18 to Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the scenic Nautica Beach Resort, Lekki.

Designed to redefine Nigeria’s vibrant “Detty December” experience, the Shakara Festival is expected to attract over 20,000 attendees daily, ranging from diasporans returning home for the holidays to music enthusiasts from across Africa and beyond.

The festival promises an immersive, world-class experience celebrating the best of African creativity from live music and art to fashion, food, and cultural showcases.

Daytime activities will feature panel sessions and workshops with thought leaders in music, media, and the creative economy, offering valuable insights into the business of entertainment. Visitors will also enjoy Shakara Junction, a bustling marketplace filled with food vendors, designers, and artisans showcasing unique Nigerian and African products.

As night falls, the festival will transition to Shakara Afterdark — an electrifying nightlife experience featuring exclusive parties, collaborations with Lagos’ top rave curators, and performances by some of Africa’s biggest stars across Afrobeats, Alté, Soul, Gospel, and Afro-Fusion.

“We wanted to build something that truly pushes boundaries for the Nigerian music scene,” said Godson Oriaku, CEO and Founder of Shakara Festival. “Shakara represents authentic African expression — a platform where different sounds, cultures, and communities can connect in one powerful celebration.”

According to Abiola Francesca Dacosta-Ajayi, Founding Partner of the festival, Shakara is more than an event — it’s a movement.

“This is about celebrating the richness of African creativity and showing the world the depth of our talent. Shakara Festival is Lagos’ gift to the world — a symbol of unity, artistry, and cultural pride,” she said.

The official artist lineup will be revealed in the coming weeks.
