Hon. Sesan Olowa, Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki LGA (centre), alongside the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) and other executive members, makes a guest appearance at the Lagos State Body of Seriki Hausawa meeting held at BAT-HOUSE, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat, on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Seriki Hausawa Council has endorsed Olowa for 2nd term at BAT-House monthly meeting.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Council of Seriki Hausawa, an umbrella body for Arewa traditional leaders in the state, held its monthly meeting on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the iconic BAT-House Secretariat in Ibeju-Lekki.

The gathering drew Serikis (Hausa traditional leaders) from all five administrative divisions of Lagos — Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe — for a wide-ranging discussion on pressing matters such as security, environmental compliance, and communal harmony.

The meeting was hosted by HRH Alhaji Musa Abubakar, Sarkin Hausawa of Ibeju-Lekki, and took place at the BAT-House, a state-of-the-art secretariat named in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The facility, built by the current Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sesan Olowa, was recently inaugurated by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In his welcome remarks, HRH Alhaji Musa Abubakar praised Hon. Olowa for fostering inclusivity and good governance in Ibeju-Lekki, particularly toward the Arewa community. “For the past four years, the Arewa community here has been treated as family. There’s no discrimination — not in religion, ethnicity, or politics,” he said. “Chairman Olowa has shown leadership that unites rather than divides.”

Key items on the meeting’s agenda included strengthening cooperation with host communities, encouraging lawful behaviour, and enforcing environmental best practices. The Serikis jointly condemned activities such as indiscriminate waste disposal, open defecation, and other offences that violate Lagos State’s environmental and sanitation laws, warning that such infractions carry legal consequences.

The body reiterated its commitment to peaceful coexistence and community development. “We are here to reaffirm our loyalty to Lagos State and to partner with all stakeholders for the peace and progress of our people,” said one of the attending Serikis.

In a symbolic gesture of endorsement, the Serikis collectively expressed gratitude to Hon. Olowa for his performance in office and pledged their full support for his re-election in the upcoming July 12, 2025, local government elections. They offered prayers for his continued success and leadership.

Responding to the show of support, Hon. Sesan Olowa thanked the traditional leaders for their visit and goodwill. “Your endorsement is not taken lightly. I am deeply honoured,” he said. “With your continued support, we will activate an even greater Ibeju-Lekki in the next administration, God willing.”

The meeting further underscored the growing political relevance and civic engagement of the Arewa community in Lagos, as well as the importance of inclusive governance in maintaining unity in Nigeria’s most diverse state.
