President Tinubu Issues Marching Order To Armed Forces Over Plateau Attack

President Tinubu has issued a marching order to the armed forces over the latest Plateau Attack which left at least 115 people dead.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, condemned the brutal attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas, LGAs, of Plateau State, northern Nigeria, where over 115 persons were killed by bandits.

 

This Nigeria news platform recalls that unknown gunmen invaded Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas on Christmas Eve and killed at least 115 villagers and burnt down 17 communities.

Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who confirmed the number of casualties and the level of destruction in the attack in an interview on Tuesday, said scores of residents are still missing.

 

Reacting to the Plateau Attack in a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Tuesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, President Tinubu directed security agencies to immediately move in, scour every stretch of the zone, and apprehend the culprits.

 

The statement said the President also directed the immediate mobilisation of relief resources for surviving victims of the attacks as well as medical treatment for the wounded.

 

While condoling with the government and the people of Plateau, the President assured Nigerians that “the envoys of death, pain, and sorrow would not escape justice”.

 

The statement reads thus; “President Bola Tinubu strongly condemns the heinous and brutal attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, which resulted in the tragic loss of many lives,” the statement reads.

 

“President Tinubu directs security agencies to immediately move in, scour every stretch of the zone, and apprehend the culprits.

 

“The President also directs immediate mobilization of relief resources for surviving victims of the primitive and cruel attacks as well as medical treatment for the wounded.”

 

 

The president assured residents of the state that the “envoys of death, pain, and sorrow will not escape justice”.
