Tom Njemanze
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that popular Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze has died after struggling with prostate cancer.
This Nigeria news platform gathered that Njemanze passed away on Tuesday, following months of illness that kept him in and out of the hospital.
Before his death, the actor had reached out to the public through a viral video, asking for financial help to undergo a life-saving surgery.
His condition attracted support from several well-known figures, including CharlyBoy, who openly pleaded with Nigerians to help the actor raise funds for treatment.
Unfortunately, Njemanze did not survive the illness.
Njemanze became a household name in the 1990s through his roles in Nollywood classics such as Issakaba, Osuofia in London, Pounds and Dollars, and Igbotic Love.
He was known for his deep voice and expressive acting style, which made him a familiar face in many Nigerian homes.
Before his death, activist and entertainer CharlyBoy had also launched a campaign for regular prostate screenings, using his own survival story to raise awareness.
He stressed the need for men to get tested early and speak openly about their health, warning that many people are dying quietly because of fear or lack of information.
Njemanze’s death has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a man who gave so much to Nigeria’s film industry.
