The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspected fraudsters for swindling a yet-to-be-identified woman out of N7.5m in the Ikorodu area of the state.
Newsonline reports that the woman (name withheld) was seeking spiritual help from the fraudsters who disguised themselves as ‘men of god’.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a tweet on Sunday, said the suspects who perpetrated the crime were apprehended when they arranged to collect another batch of funds from the victim.
He explained the victim realized that the ‘men of god’ were fraudsters and reported the case to police station.
Hundeyin tweeted, “In Ikorodu, these two duped a woman to the tune of N7.5m under the guise of providing ‘spiritual help’. She realised the fraud and approached the police. They were apprehended when they arranged to get another batch of funds from her. Investigation is ongoing.”
