Our Concern Is How Do We Win With Muslim-Muslim Ticket- APC Northern Governors

Our Concern Is How Do We Win With Muslim-Muslim Ticket- APC Northern Governors

Northern governors under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, has said their concern is how to deliver the party in their respective states with the Muslim-Muslim tickets come 2023 general election.

Newsonline reports that the APC Northern governors said both the presidential candidate and the vice-presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima respectively were former governors.

Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, who disclosed this in his interview with BBC Hausa Service, said the APC governors of the North will work harder to ensure APC emerges victorious in the 2023 elections.

Inuwa said, “Both Asiwaju and Kashim are our own, they all served as governors and senators, they have all the necessary experience and qualities required from a leader.”

Speaking on the non-attendance of most APC Northern governors to the official unveiling of Kashim Shettima as Tinubu’s vice-presidential candidate, Inuwa said there was no time all governors would be present on such occasion, but that should not be interpreted as non-support.

“The fact that we did not attend the inauguration of Kashim, certainly not all of us attended, and that does not mean those who are absent are not in his support, because even when the party wins the presidential election some governors might not be available during swearing-in due to other engagements.

“Alhaji to me I don’t see it as anything because none of us was heard making comments or complaining about Kashim Shatima’s choice as Tinubu’s running mate, our concern is how we will win the election for the party,” Governor Inuwa said.

Newsonline had reported that the choice of Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, a Muslim by Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, a Muslim, as running mate has been facing strong opposition among party members including sitting governors, senators, House of Representatives members of the ruling party.
