Our Candidate Maybe Peter Obi, Atiku, Tinubu, Now, We Don’t Have- Miyetti

This is the decision of the congress, not an individual decision or the decision of a member of the association. It has to be a majority decision of the congress before we decide on who to vote for.

Our Candidate Maybe Peter Obi, Atiku, Tinubu, Now, We Don't Have- Miyetti

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has said the choice of its presidential candidate is still open as either Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Kwankwaso or Bola Tinubu may be endorsed at the end of the day.

Newsonline reports that the association of Fulani herdsmen said the decision on whether they would endorse a candidate or not would be determined after their coming congress.

The National Secretary of Miyetti, Usman Ngerzema, who stated this on Friday, said members of the association criss-cross the major political parties, but the manifestoes of the candidates would determine the position of the herdsmen body.

He said, “You know MACBAN is a combination of all interest groups. We have the APC, PDP, NNPP, ANPP and others. We have them in MACBAN. This decision has not been taken. The last time, it was a unanimous decision of the congress, we endorsed Buhari then.”

He added, “But now, until the chips are down, then we can decide whether to take a position or we can remain neutral. So, this is the decision of the congress, not an individual decision or the decision of a member of the association. It has to be a majority decision of the congress before we decide on who to vote for.”

Speaking on the manifesto, Miyetti told Punch, “Before that, we have to look at the manifesto, we have to look at what they intend to do for our members. We don’t even know whether we are going to do the endorsement or not, because that is the decision of the congress, whether to endorse who or what, the congress has to sit first and analyse and see.”
