Department of State Security (DSS) Osun State Command ordered its personnel assigned to Governor Ademola Adele of Osun State to return back to office following the controversy that arose between its personnel and personnel of Nigeria Police Force on Thursday.

Newsonline reports that the controversy arose on which of the security unit would be in the position of the Chief Security Officer to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

A security source disclosed to Punch that “the DSS headquarters in Abuja had posted an officer to work with Adeleke and assigned to him the role of Chief Security Officer.

The Nigeria Police Force headquarters also from Abuja posted police personnel and assigned him as the Chief Security Officer to the governor.

Issues got to the head when on Thursday both DSS and the police personnel resumed work at Adeleke’s office, and the position of CSO led to altercations.

It was reported that there were altercations between the personnel of DSS and personnel of Nigeria Police Force.

The Osun State Command of DSS having gotten report on the controversy ordered its operatives to return back to office.

Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke’s spokesman in a statement on Sunday, confirmed there was a disagreement between the DSS personnel and men of the police force.

Olawale, however, said the matter has been reported to the headquarters of the two security agencies for resolution.

The statement read in part, “the attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a report on the alleged withdrawal of security personnel from Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“We want to make it clear that this is a minor disagreement between officers from the Department of State Service and the Police.

“The matter has been reported to the headquarters of the two security agencies for resolution. The issue is being sorted out.”
