Osun Tribunal: Adeleke, PDP - APC, Oyetole In war Of Words

The July 16 Osun governorship election, may have come and gone, but war of words between Adeleke and PDP on the one hand, and Oyetole and APC on the other hand, continues to rage, while the election is still being challenged in court.

Newsonline reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plans to manipulate the tribunal sitting on the post-election case filed by Governor Gboyega Oyetola against the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) and the governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The PDP on Wednesday alleged that the APC government in the state and the incumbent governor, Oyetola, are allegedly determined to manipulate the mandate of the Osun people given to Adeleke in July 16.

This was contained in a statement by the Osun PDP Director of Media and Publicity, Oladele Bamiji, obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday.

The PDP accused APC, of within one week, declaring the state as unsafe to actualize its alleged plan of moving the sitting of the tribunal against Adeleke’s victory to Abuja. Further alleging that the APC has resorted to media trial without respect to the judiciary.

The statement read in part, “Media trial is an insult to the judiciary that has demonstrated readiness to discharge its responsibilities without fear or favour.”

Oladele added, “We, therefore, charge Osun people to be on guard and be prepared to resist any plot by the APC to make a mess of our democracy with its incessant culture of stealing mandate.
“For us, as a law-abiding party, we reiterate our respect for the judiciary and have faith in it pushing back any devilish attempt to deny the people their rights to decide who leads them.”

However, the Special Adviser to Osun APC chairman on Media, Kola Olabisi, said the PDP is dissipating energy in crying woe where there is non, and dissipating its energy in giving daily frivolous composition.

Olabisi added that Oyetola and the Osun State APC are committed to the rule of law which no amount of provocation from the PDP would change.

Olabisi said, “Where is the media trial that the absolutely confused PDP is accusing the Osun APC of? The APC is a product of the rules of law of which no amount of provocation from any political irritant would make it resort to self-help.

“It will profit the Osun State PDP better if its handlers can learn how not to dissipate their energy on frivolous daily composition writings in order to whip up sentiment to shield their pyrrhic victory in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.”
