NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigerian rap icon Olamide Adedeji, widely known as Olamide, has shared insights into his approach to music, emphasising that understanding his audience has been the foundation of his success.

The “Local Rapper” hitmaker said he feels fulfilled as an indigenous artist and is not seeking international validation.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Olamide noted that he has no plans to alter his sound or style to please a Western audience.

He said, “You have to identify your audience. Once you do, the rest of the world will eventually catch up. I’ve learned to stay true to myself—no matter where I am or what happens, authenticity comes first.”

He added, “I’m comfortable in my skin. I’m a Naija guy, a Yoruba boy — I have the H-factor and all that, and I’m proud of it. You just have to stay true to yourself.”
