North Central Development Commission has spoken on ₦140bn 2025 budget reports.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has dismissed media reports suggesting inaccuracies in its proposed ₦140 billion 2025 budget, clarifying that the figures being circulated do not reflect adjustments made during its recent budget defense session at the National Assembly.

In a statement on Sunday, the Executive Director of Corporate Services, James Uloko, explained that the NCDC which is barely a month old presented its first-ever budget proposal to the Senate Committee on NCDC on September 30, 2025, as part of its preparations for full operational takeoff.

According to Uloko, the Senate Committee held both open and closed-door sessions with the Commission’s management to scrutinize and fine-tune allocations before granting preliminary approval. He added that the proposal still awaits concurrence by the House of Representatives Committee on NCDC.

“The ₦140 billion proposal remains intact, but specific allocations are still under review and will be reflected in the final document after legislative harmonization,” Uloko clarified.

The Commission emphasized that the budget is still a working document and will only become official after passage by both chambers of the National Assembly and subsequent authentication.

Amid rising public interest in the Commission’s spending plans, the NCDC assured Nigerians of transparency, accountability, and adherence to due process, adding that its interventions would promote inclusive and equitable development across the North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“The NCDC will engage stakeholders across the region through needs assessments and consultations to design an inclusive roadmap for regional development,” Uloko said.

The Commission urged the public to disregard speculative figures and await the release of the final approved budget, which will detail its priorities for the 2025 fiscal year.
