Peter Obi has warned that Nigeria’s future is in danger over education crisis.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has sounded the alarm over Nigeria’s worsening education crisis, warning that the country’s future stability is at serious risk if urgent action is not taken.

In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Obi lamented that with over 24 million children currently out of school, Nigeria has “24 million reasons to fear what lies ahead” unless decisive steps are taken to reverse the trend.

He stressed that no nation seeking sustainable development can afford to neglect the education of its youth.

“No nation grows beyond the quality of its human capital, and education is the foundation for building that capital,” Obi stated.

The LP chieftain noted that as Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to reshape global innovation and employment, education has become a critical survival tool.

“It is no longer optional; it is essential for daily life. We must equip our young people with the knowledge and skills to compete globally—not just to survive but to lead,” he said.

Obi also recalled his address to members of the Nigeria Friendship Association in Washington, D.C., on October 4, commending them for their continued support of educational development both in the U.S. and Nigeria.

“The efforts of associations like the Nigeria Friendship Association give hope that together, we can rebuild Nigeria through learning, compassion, and collective action. A New Nigeria is POssible,” he concluded.
