Like Trump, Keir Starmer has commenced massive arrests and deportation of illegal immigrants working in the UK.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has vowed to take tougher measures against the rising number of illegal foreign workers.

Since taking office in July 2024, Starmer has initiated several immigration reforms, with analysts describing his approach as “firm but fair” compared to that of his predecessor, Rishi Sunak, and Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch.

However, growing pressure from the Conservatives and the rising influence of Reform UK—both advocating stricter immigration controls—has pushed Starmer to take a harder stance to maintain public support.

“Too many people are able to come to the UK and work illegally. We are putting an end to it,” Starmer tweeted on Monday.

His statement coincided with an announcement from the Home Office that a new wave of immigration raids would be launched to target illegal workers. The agency also reported a record number of deportations, with both illegal working visits and arrests rising by approximately 38 per cent since Labour took power.

The government is reportedly planning to broadcast footage of deportations as part of its efforts to showcase its commitment to tackling illegal immigration.

In November 2024, Starmer criticised the previous Conservative administration for its handling of migration, stating: “They drove up immigration numbers; we will get them down.”

Starmer’s move on immigration comes days after Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch proposed tough measures on immigration.
