Lagos has announced an important traffic diversion.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Government has announced that traffic will be redirected at Ikeja Along Bus Stop, situated between Ile Zik and Conoil Petrol Station on the Oshodi-bound lane, from Saturday, August 17, to Sunday, August 18, 2024, during the hours of 12 midnight to 4 am each day.

This Nigeria news platform understands that the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed the development in a press release on Thursday.

He noted that this diversion is necessary to facilitate the demolition of the old pedestrian bridge.

“Consequently, from Ile Zik Bus Stop up to Conoil Petrol Filling Station on the Oshodi bound side of the road, only one lane will be available to Motorists to ensure safety,” he said.

Osiyemi elaborated that the traffic diversion will not impact drivers travelling towards the Dopemu/Abule Egba direction during the demolition process.

The commissioner also noted that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be present to oversee vehicle flow and reduce disruptions.

He urged the motoring public to cooperate, stating that the lanes would be secured with jersey barriers and protective nets to ensure the safety of both motorists and commuters throughout the demolition period.
