JAMB has reactivated the upload of 2025 WAEC Results for UTME Candidates.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the reactivation of its portal for uploading the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for all Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates.

The board disclosed this in a statement via its official X handle on Tuesday, August 20, 2025, directing candidates to visit only accredited centres for the service.

“Dear UTME candidates, this is to notify you that the upload of the 2025 WAEC result has been reactivated. Kindly visit any of our accredited facilities near you to access the service. Thank you,” the statement read.

Why It Matters

Uploading O’level results is a mandatory requirement for admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. JAMB uses the uploaded WAEC or NECO results to verify candidates’ academic records before forwarding admission lists to tertiary institutions.

Failure to upload results means that candidates, no matter their UTME scores risk being excluded from the admission process.

JAMB also warned candidates against using unapproved cybercafés, stressing that only accredited JAMB CBT centres should be used to avoid errors or fraudulent practices.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the development comes days after JAMB temporarily suspended the upload service on August 14, 2025, to fix technical hitches. The shutdown was necessary after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) recalled and corrected its earlier released results, which contained grading errors.

The suspension affected thousands of candidates seeking admission for the 2024/2025 academic session. Those who had uploaded the first version of their WAEC results were required to wait for the system to be reactivated before updating their details.

WAEC had earlier faced heavy criticism when its initial release showed that only 38.32% of candidates obtained five credits, including English and Mathematics a sharp decline from previous years. However, after an internal review traced the error to a misconfigured serialised code file affecting key subjects such as Mathematics, English, Biology, and Economics, the council corrected the figures.

The revised results, released on August 12, indicated that 62.96% of candidates actually passed with at least five credits, including English and Mathematics. In total, 1,239,884 candidates met the benchmark, while over 191,000 results remain withheld due to malpractice investigations.

The Bigger Picture

The disruption highlights what has been a turbulent year for Nigeria’s examination bodies. Alongside WAEC and JAMB, the National Examinations Council (NECO) also suspended some services for maintenance after experiencing system failures that disrupted registration and verification processes.

With JAMB now reopening the upload portal, candidates have been urged to act promptly to ensure their admission eligibility is not compromised.
