JAMB 2025 UTME Results

JAMB has announced the date to release the rescheduled 2025 UTME Results.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will release the results of 379,000 candidates who sat for the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Wednesday.

The resit was held between Friday and Monday following complaints of mass failure in the original exam.

JAMB acknowledged technical and human errors especially in Lagos and the South-East which affected many students’ performance.

Out of about 1.9 million candidates who took the first UTME, over 1.5 million scored below 200 out of 400.

After investigating, JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, admitted fault and announced a resit for affected students.

He even broke down in tears during the announcement.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that results for the rescheduled exam would be out on Wednesday.

The glitches reportedly affected nearly 380,000 students over 206,000 in Lagos and about 173,000 in the South-East.

JAMB described the situation as sabotage and notified affected candidates via text message about the rescheduled exams starting from last Thursday.

From the original UTME, only 0.24% scored 320 and above, while 0.39% scored between 300 and 319. Just 0.63% of all candidates scored above 300.

Around 17% scored between 200 and 249, and over 50% scored between 160 and 199, which is considered a minimum requirement in many universities.

Nearly 25% scored between 140 and 159, and the rest scored lower.

Meanwhile, lawmakers from the South-East have demanded the resignation of JAMB’s Registrar, calling the UTME a major failure.

In a statement, they said poor communication and short notice for the rescheduled exam caused stress for students especially as it clashed with ongoing WAEC exams.

They are calling for the 2025 UTME to be cancelled and replaced with a fresh exam after WAEC and NECO end.

They also want the suspension of JAMB officials responsible for digital operations, insisting that the problem goes beyond just apologies.

The lawmakers argue that the conduct of this year’s UTME violated students’ rights to equal educational opportunities as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.

They say students in the South-East, in particular, have been unfairly treated by JAMB’s actions.
