INEC has announced date to launch continuous voter registration in Lagos State.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) across all 20 local government area offices in Lagos State.

At a stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, Resident Electoral Commissioner Prof. Salami Ayobami revealed that the CVR process will kick off on Monday, August 18, 2025, with an initial online pre-registration phase. This will be followed by in-person biometric capturing starting Monday, August 25, 2025.

The registration exercise is scheduled to run until August 30, 2026. Physical registration will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at all INEC LGA offices and the state secretariat. Notably, anyone in line by 3:00 p.m. will still be served.

Eligible participants include Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above, individuals replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), those transferring their voter registration within or between states, and persons updating personal information such as address, name, or marital status.

Prof. Ayobami emphasized that registering underage voters or multiple registrations is strictly forbidden, warning that violators will be reported to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
