ICGS Alumni Target ₦100m Fundraising for Ultra-Modern Administrative Building

Oladapo added that the initiative goes beyond fundraising, describing it as a long-term vision to position the school as a hub of innovation and excellence.

ICGS Alumni has targeted ₦100m fundraising for ultra-modern administrative building.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Alumni of Igbotako Community Grammar School (ICGS), Ondo State, have unveiled plans to raise ₦100 million for the development of their alma mater, with a focus on constructing an ultra-modern administrative building.

The fundraising drive, scheduled for September 5, 2026, forms part of activities lined up between September 3 and September 6 to mark the school’s 50th anniversary.

Speaking at a press briefing, President of the Old Students Association, Alaba Akinwotu, described the golden jubilee as an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and giving back.

“This milestone is not just about celebrating our past; it is about shaping the future. We are calling on all alumni, well-wishers, and stakeholders to join us in making a meaningful impact on the next generation of leaders,” he said.

Also addressing journalists, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Ayo Oladapo, noted that the anniversary programme is designed to strengthen bonds between former and current students while promoting sustained development of the institution.

“This celebration is a reconnection. It brings everybody together; old students and current students alike. Mentorship remains central to what we do,” he stated.

Oladapo added that the initiative goes beyond fundraising, describing it as a long-term vision to position the school as a hub of innovation and excellence.

“We seek partnerships from government, corporate organisations, foundations, philanthropists, and alumni worldwide to ensure that ICGS becomes a reference point for academic excellence and national development,” he said.

The anniversary celebration will feature a range of activities, including Old School Day, facility inspection, a health and wellness walk, public lecture, career and counselling sessions, novelty match, fundraising gala, and an award night to honour distinguished alumni.

Founded on September 3, 1976, through community effort, ICGS has remained a symbol of academic excellence and service, with its alumni now mobilising resources to secure its future.
