Former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami has been summoned by EFCC and vowed to honour invitation.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has confirmed that he has been invited for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Malami, who served as AGF and Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, oversaw the EFCC for eight years in his supervisory role.

Now a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a governorship aspirant in Kebbi State, Malami assured the public that he will comply with the EFCC’s invitation, describing himself as a law-abiding citizen.

He also pledged to keep Nigerians informed about the outcome of his engagement with the anti-graft agency.

Malami wrote:

“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC.
As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation.
I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service – the principles that I both advocate and champion.
Rooted in public service and in the spirit of transparency and accountability, I am committed to sharing with the Nigerian public the developments as they unfold.”
