FIRS Reaffirms Commitment To Staff Well-Being, Digital Safety On World Safety Day

To demonstrate this commitment, Adedeji said he had personally signed the FIRS Safety Commitment Statement and pledged to ensure that safety becomes a daily operational culture, not just a policy on paper.

FIRS has reaffirmed commitment to staff well-being and digital safety on world safety day.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to workplace safety, describing staff as its most prized assets.

Speaking during the 2025 World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Adedeji emphasized that no meaningful achievement can be made without prioritizing the safety and well-being of employees.

“It is impossible to make progress in an environment where staff safety is not guaranteed,” Adedeji said. He was speaking after being decorated as a Safety Champion by the National Safety Institute and Agency.

A statement signed by Sikiru Akinola, Technical Assistant (Media) to the FIRS Chairman, quoted Adedeji as saying, “Our staff are our most valuable assets. Without them, none of the milestones FIRS has recorded would be possible.”

He noted that the agency’s commitment to safety had earned it recognition from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity as one of the most safety-compliant government agencies in the country.

“This year’s global theme, ‘The Impacts of Digitalisation and AI on Workers’ Safety and Health’, is timely. It reflects the dual reality of our time — innovation on one hand, and the emerging risks it brings on the other,” Adedeji said.

He added that the FIRS sub-theme, “Enhancing Tax Compliance through AI while Safeguarding Employees’ Well-being,” underscores the agency’s focus on leveraging technology without compromising staff welfare.

“As we digitise operations and deploy AI to enhance tax compliance and efficiency, we remain deeply committed to protecting the physical and mental health, safety, and security of every employee,” he said.

To demonstrate this commitment, Adedeji said he had personally signed the FIRS Safety Commitment Statement and pledged to ensure that safety becomes a daily operational culture, not just a policy on paper.

“Today’s event reaffirms our ongoing effort to make every FIRS office and digital platform a space that upholds the dignity, security, and overall well-being of our people,” he added.
