NewsOnline reports that Federal Polytechnic Oko has increased its tuition fees from twenty-five thousand five hundred (#25,500) to forty-five thousand naira (#45,00).

Informing the students of the upward review of the institution’s tuition fee, the school management in a memo dated 11th January 2022 which was seen by NewsOnline Nigeria wrote; The Governing Council in her meeting of 15th to 17th December 2021 has approved an upward review of tuition, Consultancy and Acceptance fees for the ND and HND students. This online newspaper understands that the almost 100% increase of federal polytechnic Oko school fees has caused panic among the students of the institution.

According to an HND1 student from the Department of Mass Communication who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of annyonymous, “the hike in the polytechnic’s tuition fee is not a welcomed development among the students at all”.

She further lamented the current economic difficulties prevalent in the country while condemning the institution’s decision to increase tuition fees without considering most students who are training themselves in the institution.
