NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Fans of Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, have flooded social media with complaints after what was meant to be an exciting night of music at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu turned chaotic.

Davido’s “5ive Tour”, which kicked off in Akwa Ibom on October 26 and continued in Adamawa on October 29, made its third stop in Enugu on November 1. The tour is expected to wrap up in Ibadan on November 9 and Lagos on December 25.

While earlier shows were reportedly successful, the Enugu leg drew heavy backlash from concertgoers who described scenes of overcrowding, poor crowd control, harassment, and weak security measures.

Reports suggest that over 40,000 fans attended the concert — nearly double the venue’s capacity — leading to widespread disorder. Videos and eyewitness accounts on social media alleged gate breaches, theft, harassment, and a total breakdown of security.

One attendee, @adis_beautification, lamented:

“Those without tickets entered after the gate was broken. Security did a terrible job. Touts came in, and people were robbed. My phone was stolen.”

Another fan, @hairz_by_steph, shared:

“They were pressing girls’ bodies. The crowd was too much. Davido came around 3 a.m., and by then, the place was a mess. My friend was crying because her phone was stolen.”

@mmachukwu described scenes of violence:

“Security was flogging and even tasering people. The entrance was chaotic. People fell, and it was just panic everywhere.”

@mirabel_merra added:

“Security abandoned the gates. The stampede was real — people were falling over each other.”

Another user, @reallifestories, recalled losing her belongings:

“The wig I borrowed, my shoes, my phone — everything was gone. Someone helped me with clothes and slippers to go home.”

Echoing public frustration, @Gidi_Traffic wrote:

“It’s 2025 — there’s no excuse. Event organisers must prioritise safety, especially for women, at large gatherings like this.”
