The ex-England international is optimistic about the Red Devils’ chances, especially after a lackluster performance in both the Champions League and Premier League last term, where they failed to impress.
With the Europa League set to begin this Wednesday, Manchester United will host Twente at Old Trafford in their opening match. Hargreaves believes this tournament presents a significant opportunity for the team to secure silverware.
“I think when you’re in the Champions League and not performing at the level of the other teams, you get exposed quickly,” Hargreaves told Metro UK. “Last year was quite disappointing due to the issues they faced in the Champions League, which highlighted some weaknesses in the squad. However, I see winning the Europa League as a super realistic goal for them, given the talent they have at their disposal.”
