EPL: Boehly, Tuchel Agree On Top Player Chelsea Will Sign In January

Tuchel and Boehly have agreed to revisit a move for Alvarez next year after the Mexican midfielder made it clear that he wants to move to Stamford Bridge.

Newsonline report that Chelsea failed with a move for Alvarez in the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window, with Ajax unwilling to listen to offers for the player, having lost a series of first-team players already.

Chelsea were scrambling for signings in the window’s final days, and Denis Zakaria arrived on loan from Juventus after the west London club’s failed pursuit of Alvarez.

In any case, Tuchel and Boehly agree that Chelsea’s midfield is an area that requires urgent attention in the next transfer window, with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante both having less than a year left on their deals at the club, while there is uncertainty over Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s future.
