Enyimba makes it to the inaugural African Football League! CAF confirms their spot.
Newsonline Nigeria report that Enyimba has been selected as one of the eight clubs to participate in the inaugural edition of the African Football League (AFL).
The AFL is a special partnership between the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
They handpicked these teams from three different African Regional Blocks: the North Region, the Central-West Region, and the South-East Region.
In the North Region, we have the reigning African champions Al Ahly from Egypt, Tunisia’s Esperance, and Raja Casablanca from Morocco.
Representing the Central-West Region, we have Enyimba and TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo. And from the South-East Region, we have Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, Atlético Petróleos de Luanda from Angola, and Simba Sports Club from Tanzania.
The draw for the competition will be held in Cairo, Egypt on September 2, and the action will kick off on October 20 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
